It is a French brand established in 1961 by designer André Courrèges, named after himself. It is known as a legendary brand that revolutionized the world of couture and design, liberating women from fashion constraints.

André pursued fashion after serving as a pilot in the French Air Force during World War II, and worked for Balenciaga for 10 years before becoming independent. His 1964 collection, "The Moon Girl," attracted considerable attention for its "Space Age" style. Futuristic designs such as A-line dresses, mini-skirts, slim pants, and astronaut-inspired goggles and helmets, which were unusual at the time, garnered significant interest. He also brought about a revolution in 1960s fashion by using straight cuts and new materials such as plastic, PVC, and vinyl.

After the 1990s, Courrèges sought to rebuild the brand. In 2021, Nicolas di Felice was appointed as artistic director, bringing back iconic items and injecting modern elements into Courrèges' legacy, leading to a resurgence in popularity.
