Pop Up Store - Eyewear
6/18 Sat - 6/26 Sun at Forget-me-nots
We will be holding a limited-time Eyewear Pop-Up Store from June 18th to June 26th, 2022.
In addition to NATIVE SONS, which we have carried since Forget-me-nots opened, a total of three brands, JULIUS TART OPTICAL and Shady CHARACTER, will be available for a limited time during the event.
NATIVE SONS
NATIVE SONS
An eyewear and accessory brand directed by Tommy Ogara, a renowned eyewear designer.
Mr. Ogara currently works on multiple eyewear brands, but NATIVE SONS is his longest-running brand, celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2021. While the current eyewear trend favors small, American-classic styles, NATIVE SONS offers a rich collection of bold and rugged designs with larger frames that go against this trend. To ensure long-lasting use, only the highest quality materials are carefully selected. Acetate frames are made from a cotton base, making them biodegradable. Production takes place at their own factory in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, using the techniques of Japan's top craftsmen.
Shady CHARACTER
Shady CHARACTER
Like JULIUS TART OPTICAL, this brand is a revival of a brand that existed in America.
Shady CHARACTER was born when Linda Rae Tepper and Steven Abrams, who ran the antique shop "The Ruby Slippers" in Manhattan, were captivated by deadstock models from Tart Optical Enterprises that they encountered there, and asked Julius Tart to manufacture them. The brand temporarily ceased operations but was revived in 2021 through a collaboration between American artist Michael Carney and Tommy. The two founders also joined as brand advisors. As can be seen from the brand's origins, many models are inspired by JULIUS TART OPTICAL. JULIUS TART OPTICAL's most popular model, ARNEL, and Shady CHARACTER's ARNIE have exactly the same frame shape. To differentiate them, the rivets have been changed to double diamonds, giving them a more elegant feel. It's a popular model with a distinct difference, so we highly recommend it.
JULIUS TART OPTICAL
JULIUS TART OPTICAL
This brand was newly launched in 2016 by Julius Tart's nephew Richard Tart and Tommy, inheriting the legacy of Julius Tart, the founder of Tart Optical Enterprises, which was established in the early 1950s. Tart Optical was recognized as a leading American classic brand, worn by musicians like Bob Dylan and American poet Allen Ginsberg. Based on the extensive materials left by Julius, the brand meticulously reproduces the original details and colors of that era. All models and colors currently available are authentic models and colors from that time, making it the only brand where you can experience genuine American classic eyewear.
At this Pop-Up Store, more than 100 eyewear pieces from these three brands will be available in-store. You are sure to find the perfect pair for yourself, so don't miss this opportunity.
