Kohut's pottery, with its beautiful crystalline glazes and color schemes, is made using a technique called crystalline glaze. The glaze is melted during the main firing and then slowly cooled with careful temperature control to crystallize it.
While the crystalline glaze technique itself exists in various countries around the world, such as Japan and Vietnam, it is extremely difficult to achieve, as it requires many conditions to be met, including temperature, glaze composition, amount of glaze applied, and time in the kiln. Therefore, studios that can produce large and beautiful crystals are rare worldwide.

While there is a certain Japanese aesthetic, the color palette and the large, vibrant crystals have a distinct flavor different from Japanese pottery.
The crystals vary by several degrees depending on the amount of glaze applied and the placement in the kiln, making each piece unique.
Furthermore, it takes 4-6 days to remove the pieces from the kiln after the main firing begins, unlike the usual 1-2 days. Because the pieces remain in the kiln for a longer period, mass production is not possible.
Each piece is truly a one-of-a-kind gem.
