With the strong desire to "create the world's best hiking shoes" that Clark Matis, one of MERRELL's founders, aimed for, the outdoor brand MERRELL has evolved and progressed since its establishment in 1981. To pay tribute to Clark Matis and to signify further progress into the future, Merrell's most innovative fast hiking shoe to date has been born, with the name "Matis" incorporated into the model name. This shoe combines high functionality packed with brand technology and materials, achieving both "performance" and "style" for multi-use in outdoor scenes as well as street use. It is truly a next-generation hiking shoe that offers a glimpse into "the future of outdoor footwear."

The upper is reinforced with TPU based on a lightweight and breathable mesh. Furthermore, a TPU reinforced heel counter at the heel improves stability. Speed laces also make it easy to put on and take off and adjust the fit. The eye-catching marshmallow-like midsole features a two-tier structure of "FLOATPRO™" foam, a sustainable midsole that is lightweight, cushioned, and maintains its function, with a "FLEXPLATE™" nylon plate in between to suppress twisting and improve stability and rigidity. The outsole uses a "Vibram MEGAGRIP × Vibram TRACTION LUG" outsole (3mm lug depth) that provides the highest level of grip on wet surfaces and rugged trails. Sustainable materials were also incorporated to reduce environmental impact.
